Fall 2019 - Spring 2020 season
Spraying is underway! It will take approximately 10-14 days of spraying until the tower is ready for climbing.
Wether you're a season ice climber, or have never tried ice climbing before, the UAF ice tower is a great place to learn, train, or just hang out and get some laps in. Our friendly and helpful staff will get you set up and fitted with all the gear you need to climb, so don't worry if you don't have your own!
FREE for UAF students with an SRC membership!
Day pass fee applies to all others (see below). Passes may be purchased at the SRC front desk, or Outdoor Adventures during open hours.
All technical gear is provided (double plastic boots, crampons, helmets, harnesses, ice tools). We have limited quantities.
UAF climbing wall certification is required to BELAY. You may CLIMB without a certifcation as the tower is staffed and the staff can belay for you.
All climbers must sign in at the tower yurt.
All climbers must have a current waiver on file with us.

Ice wall closures
The tower will be closed on the following dates:
- Spring Break (3/7 - 15)
The Ice wall will shut down operation past -20 degrees F, both for safety and quality of ice.
For convenience we go off of the thermometer at the airport.
Ice tower rental
Rent the ice tower for you next event!
Rentals include staff and all technical ice climbing gear (double boots, ice tools, harnesses, and helmets). Participants will need to bring apropriate clothing.
If you have a group of more than 5 people we ask that you set up a rental time outside of our open hours.
